  • Balkan Jews Newsgroup - group deals with minorities (history, politics, geography,...) in the (northern) Balkan region generally, the Romanian space especially. As a member of a tiny sub-group of the Native Jewry of Rumania, I may at times be subjective and push the discussion towards Jewish, Sefardi/Romaniote subjects. The Balkan countries are Albania, Bulgaria, FYR (Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia, and to a lesser extent, Slovenia), Greece, Roumania and Turkey. Added to these we may include, because of the borders' volatility, Moldova/Moldavia, Gagauzia, Hungary, Transnistria (Transdniester), Cyprus, and parts of Ukraine. By extension we may look even at Italy, once a real national presence in the Balkans (i.e., Crete, Cetatea Alba, etc.) (Added: 5-Mar-2003 Hits: 132 Rating: 0 Votes: 0) Rate It
